Personal Q&A

I chose a career in urology due to its broad population group – males and females of all ages. Includes a broad range of functional and oncological conditions – including renal, bladder, prostate and testicular cancer. Use of a variety of surgical techniques – open, laparoscopic, robotic, endoscopic. Multidisciplinary team approach to management involving allied health and other medical specialists.

Bladder outlet surgery. Short, well-tolerated procedure which can dramatically improve a patient’s quality of life. Was one of the main inspirations for me to choose a career in urology.

Professor Phillip Stricker at St Vincent’s. I completed my Master of Surgery under Prof Stricker in prostate cancer research. This involved research in the diagnostic utility of MRI in focal therapy for prostate cancer and was later awarded the opportunity to present this research at the AUA. Once I completed my Master of Surgery and my Urology training in NSW, I later returned to St Vincent’s to further improve my robotic skills.

Main interest outside of medicine are surfing and ocean swimming. One of the big reasons for working in the Illawarra. Also enjoy running and bike riding.
